Box Truck Overturns on Highway 49 Near Chapman Creek Campground
Paramedics transported one injured occupant to the hospital by ambulance.

BASSETTS — A box truck overturned on Highway 49 near Chapman Creek Campground on Wednesday, April 22, after losing control on snow-covered roads. Downieville and Sierra City Fire Departments and the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the rollover in Sierra County, approximately 8 miles northeast of Sierra City, at around 9 AM.
The box truck carried two occupants. Initial reports from radio traffic indicated that one person sustained moderate injuries and experienced chest pain. The other occupant appeared uninjured. Paramedics transported the injured individual by ambulance to a hospital for further care.

CHP officers stayed on scene to handle the aftermath and reopen the roadway. A traffic alert from the agency described snow-covered roads as unpredictable and dangerous, advising motorists to slow down, increase following distance, and avoid sudden braking or sharp turns.
