DOWNIEVILLE — For many years, Jack and Linda Marshall placed an American flag on the grave of every veteran buried in the Downieville Cemetery each year before Memorial Day. Jack Marshall was a proud veteran of the United States Army who built a career with the United States Forest Service.
Marshall passed away at his home in Downieville on November 9, 2025, at the age of 86. In honor of Jack, the David Marshall family recently placed flags on all veterans’ graves in the cemetery. They plan to continue the annual tradition.
