Downieville’s “Fireless Fireworks” in 2025.

DOWNIEVILLE — ARE YOU READY? The Downieville 4th of July parade is almost here to celebrate our nation’s 250TH anniversary. And, as the grand finale to the parade, Downieville’s infamous Fireless Fireworks are ready for the loudest, noisiest, and happiest POP! POP! POP! ever!

Fireless Fireworks was created by Ingrid Larson and Dan Farrington in the early 2000s, when they owned the Downieville Grocery; it was a response to the prohibition on fireworks in the Tahoe National Forest. The first year’s roll of bubble wrap was only 25 feet long. Over the years, this celebratory STOMP has grown to 3 rolls, each 4 feet wide by 250 feet long, stretching from the Post Office to the Community Hall and beyond.

Thank you to the generous donations from the Downieville Lions Club, the Downieville Fire Auxiliary, the Downieville Improvement Group (DIG), and local individuals, and all of you who put money in the many donation tubs around town. Sufficient money has been raised to pay for the cost of the bubble wrap, including freight, of over $600. Any excess funds will help pay for the cost of the foot race prizes.

Don’t hesitate to lose all of your inhibitions and join us for the celebration, the fun, and the laughter. And…at the end of the parade, please get up, young and old and somewhere in between, and stomp to your heart’s delight.

Let’s keep our forest safe. Let’s celebrate! Let’s roll out the wrap and stomp and pop those bubbles and make this year’s 250th celebration the noisiest and best ever!
