GRAEAGLE — The Feather River Chapter of Trout Unlimited announced its annual Juniors’ Fishing Derby for Saturday, May 16, from 7 AM to noon at the Graeagle Mill Pond. The event serves as the chapter’s season opener. The pond will be stocked by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Junior anglers must be under the age of 16 to enter, and younger children require adult supervision. The chapter will provide a limited supply of fishing gear and bait for juniors who have not yet assembled their own tackle.
Support for the event comes from Graeagle Land and Water, which tidies the site for the event. Local businesses also contribute, including Gumbas 2 Go, Little Bear RV Park, The Graeagle Frostee, The Cheeseburger Team, and the Graeagle Store, which supplies worms. The Plumas County Fish and Wildlife Commission and Mt. Ace Hardware provide additional assistance to the chapter.
Families with questions may call Cindy at 530-249-0444. The Graeagle Mill Pond is located across from the Graeagle Store at 1261 Maricopa Trail, Graeagle, CA 96103.
