Tuesday, September 17

08:39 - Animal issue out of the county.

09:35 - Report of hostile campers near Webber Lake. I was out camping when a monk tried to sell me flowers but I said no. I like to do my bit to prevent florist friars.

20:38 - CHP notified of a non-injury vehicle vs deer accident near Sierraville.

22:03 - Folks sleeping in their car in Downieville. Deputy is aware. I’d be sleeping in my car, too, as hotel prices are RIDICULOUS!

Thursday, September 19

01:32 - CHP notified of single vehicle accident near Truckee.

04:55 - CHP notified of a disabled vehicle that hit a rock near Downieville.

08:21 - Here we go. Drum roll please...cow on the road south of Sierra Valley. Poor CHP. They must get tired of this crap.

11:50 - Sierra County Probation handling juvenile issue in Loyalton.

12:43 - What the dickens? “Report of logging trucks continuously running the stop signs” in Downieville. CHP notified. Stop at the damn sign! Ain't nobody got time to get run over by a logging truck! Heavens to Betsy!

17:53 - “Report of an employee that is over two hours late for work and that is abnormal for them.” Employee was fine. If you are on a job interview and asked “What do you make?” apparently, “mistakes and inappropriate comments” are not the answers.

19:35 - Ambulance requested in Downieville.

Saturday, September 21

05:38 - Vehicle over an embankment in Sierra City. CHP handling.

10:42 - Ambulance requested in Loyalton.

11:29 - Vehicle stolen from the Downieville Grocery Store parking lot. Inquiries provided little information as CHP is on the case. I did confirm vehicle was not owned by a local, AND this was the same rig found over the embankment in Sierra City.

11:33 - Loyaltonians counseled on the law with regards to where they can drive their dirt bikes. I’m pretty sure deputies are tired of giving the same spiel to these riders on where they can legally operate their bikes!

12:23 - CHP notified of a Tesla illegally parked in the middle of the road. Sounds about right. Okay. I'm being a smart ass. I had a litany of commentary on my disdain for electric vehicles, but solely for the editor’s sake, I deleted it before he even got a chance to read as my rant was simply too long. Oh hell, here it goes: When you stop mining on Indigenous people’s lands, stop needing gas vehicles to bail your ass out when it breaks down, when the thing doesn’t need all day to charge - I might be game! Much shorter rant than what was previously written!

14:13 - “Brewfest is over, Deputy will be patrolling the area throughout the night.”

16:02 - Apparently a Loyalton resident refused ambulance services against the better judgment of those who are a bit more medically qualified.

19:20 - Deputy moved a deer off the road Southbound 49 from Newman Point.

19:38 - Ambulance requested in Loyalton.

21:55 - Deputy helped out-of-gas driver north of the Yuba Pass.

21:57 - Ambulance requested in Downieville.

Sunday, September 22

09:51 - Calf out near the highway around Dyson. What do you call a cow with no calf? Decaffeinated.

10:12 - Report taken of tires slashed in Sierra City. That’s a mature way of handling some anger - not really. When intrusive thoughts appear, remind yourself it's not worth the jail time!

13:25 - Seems a driver around Sierra Brooks is driving recklessly. I saw a girl texting and driving and got really pissed off! I rolled down my window and threw my beer at her. Okay...not really. BUT! Flashback to years ago when Julie, one of my employees, told me she would never put a Christian bumper sticker on her car because she sometimes has road rage! I about died laughing and asked her to expand on this revelation! After seeing someone steal a parking space she was about to pull into, she rolled her window down and chucked her large soda right at ‘em! Mind you, she is a normally a sweet girl, daughter and of missionaries, and I - a black sheep of a preacher’s kid - would have been a more suited candidate to exhibit this momentary lapse of self-control! Like I say about myself and my closest circle of friends, we are Christians but from the South Side of the Kingdom. Pray with us, don’t play with us. None of us are above ending up in some newspaper Blotter. I often say, “But by the grace of God there go I,” and apparently, there went Julie!

16:55 - Injured motorcycle rider near Bassetts. Hope they are okay!

19:45 - Deputy unable to find any suspect breaking into a Loyalton residence as reported. Sidenote: If your crystal meth dealer has all their teeth - they‘re the cops!

20:53 - Ambulance requested in Loyalton.

23:42 - Ambulance requested in Beckwourth.

23:45 - Deputy cruised up to Sierra City to talk to some folks who were “possibly drinking and being loud.” On an unrelated note, I'm waiting to see how long it takes for this police sketch artist to realize I'm describing him. Well that’s all folks!
