DOWNIEVILLE — After recent warm weather, Downieville Outfitters and Big Boulder Adventures have opened their mountain bike shuttle services for the 2026 season. The operations transport riders and their bikes from the town of Downieville at 2,900 feet of elevation up to Packer Saddle at 7,100 feet along the Sierra Crest. Riders then descend nearly 5,000 feet over about 15 miles on the Downieville Downhill trail system back into town, with several routes available offering different challenges. Some snow may still impact trails at the highest elevations.
Downieville Outfitters, the longest-running shuttle service in the Sierra Buttes, posted on its website, “The 2026 season is ON! Shuttles are up and running, so it’s time to book a spot and get riding!” Shuttle departures on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday include 7 AM with a 4-person minimum, followed by 9AM, 11 AM, 1 PM, and 3 PM. A 5 PM run operates by appointment only with a four-person minimum. Shuttles can be booked by calling 530-289-0155 or emailing info@downievilleoutfitters.net.
