Packer Lake Fish Day Thanks
1 min read
The Sierra County Fish and Wildlife Commission extends our heartfelt thanks to our Partners for supporting our 27th annual Packer Lake Fish Day on July 18. Numerous displays and educational activities provided by the Tahoe National Forest, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the South Yuba River Citizens League entertained 120 children and their parents with local reptiles, amphibians, mammal displays, and printing fish on T-shirts. The lake was stocked with more than 3,000 hungry rainbow trout, where anglers competed with bald eagles and osprey to land a fish. Ninety-nine fish were cleaned, with two tagged fish winning $20 to their lucky angler.
The day ended with the Commission providing a raffle prize to each child. Many thanks to Tim Robinson of Bassett’s Station and Cindy McCreary of Sierra Hardware for donating supplies, to Ford Teater for catching fish for the T-Shirt printing, and to Sylvia Lopez Ostrom, Bryan Davey, Gia and Joe Jimenez, and the many agency employees for your contributions towards making this a fun-filled day.
