01:13 - Report of an overdue juvenile in Downieville. Deputies helped the juvenile and caller contact each other.

03:19 - Two people reported a physical family fight in Downieville. Because a juvenile was involved and accounts conflicted, a report was taken for referral to the Probation Department and Child Protective Services. Everyone agreed to keep the peace.

08:22 - Assistance requested with a probation check in Downieville.

08:40 - Assistance requested with a probation search in Downieville.

08:42 - Ambulance transport requested in Loyalton.

09:33 - Assistance requested with a probation search in Downieville.

10:01 - Accidental 911 call from the Loyalton area.

11:17 - An illegal fire in Sierraville spread to a fence and yard debris before firefighters and the Forest Service extinguished it. A criminal report was taken.

12:09 - A Sierra Brooks resident requested information about whom to contact concerning a maintenance crew using weed trimmers during high fire danger.

Friday, July 17

00:45 - A deputy encountered a bear roaming a Loyalton residential area and hazed it away from town.

08:53 - Report of telephone lines being down in Alleghany. Service was restored.

09:08 - Ambulance requested in Loyalton. The patient declined care against medical advice.

09:25 - Civil standby requested near Shuter Mine. The request was canceled when the requesting party failed to arrive at the scheduled time.

10:18 - Report of an overdue mountain biker in the Sierra Valley area. The caller located the person and canceled the request.

13:40 - Report of the Elephant Fire reigniting. Fire command was aware, and an air attack was underway.

16:17 - Deputies removed mattresses from Highway 395 near Highway 70.

17:52 - Report of possible elder abuse in the Loyalton area. Deputies spoke with the parties, found no crime, and determined everyone was safe.

20:37 - Report of a reckless driver throwing water balloons from a vehicle and striking people near North San Juan. The California Highway Patrol was notified.

05:38 - The California Highway Patrol arrested a driver on suspicion of driving under the influence following a crash on southbound Highway 395 near the Long Valley exit.

09:03 - Report of a hit-and-run near Jersey Bridge. The vehicle was located, and the driver was cited.

04:03 - Report of someone or something on the deck of a Downieville residence. A deputy searched the area but found nothing.

06:41 - Report of a vegetation fire west of Calpine.

09:05 - Report of injured wildlife along Highway 49 between Smithneck Road and Garbage Pit Road. The animal was euthanized.

09:06 - Report of a lost dog in Loyalton.

10:31 - Unfounded report of Federal Aviation Administration violations at Dearwater Airport near Sierraville. No crime occurred.

11:11 - Report of a bear approaching apartments near Hill Street. An additional report indicated a resident was feeding the bear.
