Tuesday, July 7
01:44 - A caller believed the Sheriff’s Office was looking for them regarding a welfare check. The caller was confirmed safe at home.

09:40 - Report of lost property at a swimming hole in Downieville.
10:37 - Open 911 call from the Calpine area. The caller later confirmed there was no emergency.
15:17 - Civil standby requested in Loyalton.
15:30 - Someone was arrested on a Sierra County warrant.
15:51 - Report of a vehicle stuck in the forest near Sierra City. The occupants freed the vehicle before rescuers arrived and returned home safely.
18:41 - Report of a business alarm in Downieville. The responsible party said the alarm was faulty and agreed to check it.
18:42 - Report of a woman possibly in distress alongside the road south of Loyalton. A deputy contacted her and provided transportation to a residence.
18:43 - Deputies transported an inmate who had been released from court back to the inmate’s residence.
18:55 - Request for assistance following a minor motorcycle crash off Henness Pass Road. The rider was able to continue home before a deputy arrived.
20:52 - Report of a suspicious vehicle that had been parked beside county vehicles at the Downieville gas station for several days. No crime was being committed, and no deputy response was needed.
23:48 - Report of a low battery in a medical-alert pendant. The owners were notified and did not require assistance.

15:34 - Stranded motorists near Chapman Creek Campground were transported to Graeagle.
15:42 - Report of a ladder and other debris in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near the California-Nevada state line. California Highway Patrol was notified.
19:17 - A Loyalton resident requested information about dogs entering and disturbing the resident’s property. A deputy explained the resident’s rights, and no official report was requested.
19:48 - A deputy assisted a Plumas County deputy with a traffic stop near the Sierra County line.
21:15 - Report of people knocking on windows at a Downieville residence. The subjects were gone before the call, and deputies agreed to conduct extra property checks.
22:08 - A deputy stopped a driver for a traffic violation near Highway 49 and Railroad Avenue in Loyalton. California Highway Patrol conducted field sobriety tests, determined the driver was not impaired, and released the driver.
Friday, July 10
08:11 - Report of a bizarre letter left at a Sierra City business. The letter contained no threats or other criminal content. The reporting party was given information about obtaining a restraining order.
09:28 - Probation search conducted in Loyalton.
16:58 - Assistance requested with the return of personal belongings in Downieville.
17:52 - A deputy contacted a disoriented man at a residence along Highway 49 and determined he was an at-risk missing person from Plumas County. His family was located and picked him up.
20:17 - While stopping an unregistered off-highway vehicle in the Verdi area, a deputy attempted to stop two additional riders. The riders ignored the deputy’s commands and fled.
20:44 - Report of a possibly injured deer on the Loyalton Elementary School playground. A deputy checked the animal and found it moving normally.
23:48 - Report of a bear entering an occupied Loyalton residence. The homeowner shot the bear inside the residence, and it fled into the woods. A deputy was unable to locate it, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified.
23:55 - A deputy cited a subject at Cannon Point near Downieville on an outstanding Bakersfield Police Department warrant for criminal trespassing.
Saturday, July 11
06:02 - Report of a reckless tow-truck driver traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 in Nevada. The Nevada State Police were notified.
09:19 - Report of a skunk caught in a trap in Sierra Brooks. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife was contacted.
12:19 - Report of a jet-fuel spill on Galloway Street in Downieville. Downieville Fire, Sierra County Public Works, and the county Health Department were notified.
12:59 - Assistance requested with obtaining a tow truck near Bassetts.
13:12 - Report of a pedestrian walking in the roadway on Highway 395 north of the state line. California Highway Patrol was notified.
13:30 - Report regarding the Elephant Fire on Highway 49 near the Sierra-Plumas county line.
17:55 - Deputies investigated an unwanted person at a Loyalton residence and arrested someone on two outstanding felony Sierra County warrants and a new charge of resisting arrest.
18:41 - Report of a possible kidnapping originating in Doyle and traveling toward Reno. Deputies searched for the vehicle until receiving word that the possible victim had safely arrived in Reno.
19:22 - Report of a disabled motorcycle in the Bear Valley and Long Valley area. The occupants were safe and planned to recover the motorcycle the following day.
19:28 - Report of a possible vehicle crash. No injuries were reported, and the California Highway Patrol took over the incident.

20:18 - Report of a vehicle fire on Highway 70 in Plumas County. Multiple agencies responded.
21:01 - Report of an intoxicated person being loud outside a Downieville residence and a dog crying inside a vehicle.
