Sierra County Election Results: District 2 Supervisor Undecided
Davey and Meline advance to the November general election in District 2 contest.

SIERRA COUNTY — Sierra County voters cast ballots in the June 2 primary election for local and statewide offices. On Tuesday, June 9, the county released unofficial semi-final results that are expected to accurately reflect the election’s true outcome. 1,271 ballots have been counted, representing 58.63% of registered voters. Totals may change slightly before the results are certified if more ballots postmarked by election day arrive.
The District 2 Supervisor contest featured three candidates and produced no majority winner. Bryan Davey (114 votes, 47.70%) and Sonya Meline (102 votes, 42.68%) finished as the top two vote-getters, and both will advance to the general election in November, where the seat will be decided. Michael Ostrom placed third with 23 votes and will not advance.
In the race for District 5 Supervisor, incumbent Sharon Dryden received 168 votes, with challenger Ossi Korkeila receiving 114 votes. Dryden surpassed the 50% threshold required to win the seat outright in the primary and will retain the position without a November runoff.
Sean Snider secured the position of Superintendent of Schools, running unopposed in the election. Still, he received an impressive 846 votes from Sierra County residents.
Voters in the redrawn U.S. House District 1, which includes Sierra County, also chose their nominees during the primary. Republican James Gallagher and Democrat Mike McGuire finished as the top two candidates overall and will advance to the general election. Democrat challenger Audrey Denney will not make the November ballot.
In the State Assembly District 1 race, Republican incumbent Heather Hadwick and Democrat Dianna Margaret James advanced as the top two finishers, and both will appear on the November ballot. Hadwick received strong support, carrying over 60% of the vote in Sierra County and about 50% district-wide.
In the race for governor, Sierra County voters supported Steve Hilton with 426 votes and Chad Bianco with 327 votes. Tom Steyer received 183 votes, and Xavier Becerra received 162 votes in the county. The top two candidates statewide, Democrat Xavier Becerra and Republican Steve Hilton, will advance.
