TRUCKEE — Truckee will host its first-ever State of the Community event on Thursday, May 14. The free public gathering takes place from 5 PM to 6:30 PM at Alder Creek Middle School. Organizers created the forum so residents can hear directly from the agencies that serve the Truckee region.

The event promotes transparency and strengthens connections between the community and local leaders. Attendees will learn about current projects, agency operations, and future plans. Brief presentations will cover infrastructure improvements, planning efforts, and new programs across the region.

The Town of Truckee organized the event in partnership with Nevada County and numerous local service districts. Participating agencies include the Truckee Police Department, Truckee Fire Protection District, Tahoe Truckee Unified School District, Tahoe Forest Health System, Truckee Tahoe Airport District, Sierra College, Truckee Donner Public Utility District, Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District, Tahoe-Truckee Sanitation Agency, Truckee Sanitary District, California Highway Patrol, and Nevada County Sheriff’s Office.

Agency representatives will deliver high-level updates during the program. A short question-and-answer session will focus on regional law enforcement, and attendees will afterward be able to meet and connect directly with representatives from the participating organizations.

Spanish interpretation will be available, along with childcare for children ages 2 and older. Light refreshments and raffle prizes will also be provided. Mayor Anna Klovstad emphasized the collaborative effort. “Truckee’s strength has always been our ability to work together toward a shared vision. This event is a celebration of that collective spirit, bringing together the dedicated agencies that keep our region thriving,” the mayor stated. “I am incredibly proud of the collaboration on display here; it’s a rare opportunity for us to stand as one and offer our community a transparent, inspiring look at the future we are building together.”
