SUSANVILLE — Cal Fire announced in a press release issued June 15 that residential burn permits in the State Responsibility Areas of Lassen, Modoc, and Plumas Counties will be suspended as of 8:00 AM Wednesday, June 17. The suspension is due to high fire danger conditions resulting from the accumulation of dry, dead grass and hotter, drier weather, Cal Fire said.

All outdoor burning of residential landscape debris will be banned as of June 17. However, campfires will still be allowed in organized campgrounds and on private property, and Cal Fire may issue temporary restricted burn permits for agriculture, land management, fire training, and other industrial activities.

Campfires may require a permit from Cal Fire, the Bureau of Land Management, or the Forest Service. Information and an application are available from Cal Fire at https://tmmlink.com/e2LHkY5.

An end date for the burning suspension has not been announced.
