In Support of Sonya Meline

Editor,
I am supporting Sonya Meline for Sierra County Board of Supervisors, District 2, because I believe our communities need energetic, community-minded representation right now.
Sonya has already shown her commitment to Sierra County through years of volunteer work, local business leadership, and community involvement. She has served with the Sierra County Chamber of Commerce, supported senior programs in both Downieville and Loyalton, volunteered with the Loyalton Food Bank, and served on the Sierra Frontier Medical Resources Board.
What stands out to me most is that Sonya doesn’t just focus on one area of the county. She has spent time listening to residents from Sierra City to Verdi, learning about concerns ranging from economic development and downtown revitalization to emergency services and community needs.
As a business owner in Downieville, Sonya understands the challenges facing small rural communities and the importance of finding grants, partnerships, and creative solutions to help our towns thrive again. She is resourceful, hardworking, approachable, and willing to roll up her sleeves to help.
Sonya is also a Navy veteran who served as a legal secretary supporting the JAG Corps, bringing both leadership and public service experience to the table.
I believe Sonya would bring fresh energy, strong communication, and a collaborative spirit to the Board of Supervisors, and I’m proud to support her for District 2.
