Plumas County Tax Measure Defeated, Mixed Results for Incumbents

Unofficial primary results show supervisor shifts, new treasurer-tax collector, and failed sales tax hike

QUINCY — Plumas County elections officials posted unofficial counts Wednesday night of votes cast in the June 2 primary. In contested races for local offices, Sean McKenzie defeated Douglas Brower for District 3 Supervisor with 74% of the vote; incumbent District 5 Supervisor Jeff Engel appears likely to retain his seat, winning approximately 50% of the vote over 3 challengers, with Nick Collin placing second with 32%, and Katharine Clift Clubb ousted incumbent Julie White for Treasurer-Tax Collector with 55% of the vote. Measure B, a temporary 1% sales tax levy proposed by the Board of Supervisors, was defeated, with 70% of voters voting against it. The figures are based on a total of 4,367 ballots cast out of 13,166 eligible voters.
