20:26 - Sighting of a “very large bear” on a property on Bear Valley Road. No damage was reported.

07:31 - A bear broke into a garage in Sierra Brooks by pushing open a partially opened window. It then forced open an interior door and dragged out several bags of garbage. The reporting party said that steps would be taken to better secure the residence.

14:09 - Report of a vehicle being vandalized on Long Valley Road near the Nevada Border.

00:04 - Report of a suspicious person roaming in a Downieville backyard looking for a residence. A deputy located the person and learned that a rental property was being searched for, and that it had been found.

11:54 - Bear issue in Calpine.

15:46 - Report of a reckless driver in Downieville.

16:32 - Report of three stranded hikers near Upper Sardine Lake. The hikers managed to extricate themselves.

22:04 - Report of a possible trespasser in an abandoned Loyalton residence with screaming coming from the property. Deputies made contact with the subject inside, who was identified as the new owner of the property.

Saturday, June 6

03:20 - Lift assist requested in Loyalton.

07:25 - Property found on Highway 89 south of Sierraville.

13:59 - Welfare check requested in Sierra City.

18:25 - A deputy found a vehicle out of gas near Little Truckee Summit. AAA was able to assist.

19:06 - A deputy admonished drivers of unregistered off-road vehicles in the Verdi area. They were told on which roadways they could legally drive.

19:49 - Lift assist requested in Loyalton.

22:00 - Report of an unruly former employee at a local business. A deputy found that no crime had been committed and that the person had left when asked, but advised the business owners to call back if the person returned.

22:11 - Lift assist requested in Loyalton.

23:33 - Report of a street sign being broken by individuals in Downieville. A deputy found no property damage. Public Works was notified.

Sunday, June 7

10:09 - Report of a fire in Sierraville. It was found to be a legal burn pile.

10:43 - Traffic hazard near Loyalton.

10:53 - Report of illegal campers near the state line.

11:05 - Report of a person jumping in front of cars on Highway 49 near Sierra City.

12:46 - Request for assistance with a vehicle stuck in mud near Stampede Reservoir.

15:59 - Accidental 9-1-1 call from Loyalton.

16:25 - Someone found a CamelBak backpack in Downieville. It had no identifying information and was handed over to the Sheriff’s Office.

19:01 - A citizen in Sierra City requested information about the eviction process.

19:16 - Cow on the road near Sattley. The owner was contacted.
