SIERRA COUNTY — At the Kentucky Mine in Sierra City this past Saturday, June 6, the Sierra County Historical Society proudly presented Jade Kennedy and Logan Kinneer with Young Historian Appreciation Award certificates in recognition of their outstanding services to the Historical Society.

Specifically, Jade Kennedy, a 21-year-old resident of Calpine, was recognized for her creative volunteer work designing commemorative stamps. The stamps were designed to be collected by visitors exploring notable historic sites in the region as part of Sierra County’s Historic Passports program.

Meanwhile, Goodyears Bar’s 18-year-old Logan Kinneer was acknowledged for his outstanding dedication to preserving the rich heritage of Sierra County through his service as a museum docent, his commitment to historical research, and his engaging public outreach through social media.

For helping ensure the stories, people, and traditions of the area’s past continue to inform and inspire future generations, Kennedy and Kinneer each received not only a frameable scrap of paper to hang on a wall but also a check for $250.
